Darran Wells
Darran Wells is a professor of Outdoor Education at Central Wyoming College with more than 20 years of experience teaching mountain biking, trail building, and outdoor leadership. Before joining CWC, he spent nearly a decade with NOLS, where he served as senior faculty and Program Coordinator for NOLS Custom Education, leading custom leadership programs for NASA, the Wharton School, and the U.S. Naval Academy.
At CWC, Darran created the CWC Trail Building Program, developing a curriculum that teaches students how to design, build, and maintain sustainable singletrack. His professional trail work includes contributing to the iconic Red Bull Rampage course build, bringing industry-level experience directly into the classroom and onto the trail.
A former Peace Corps volunteer, expedition adventure racer, and author of NOLS Wilderness Navigation, Darran is passionate about helping riders build confidence, develop technical skills, and deepen their connection to the landscapes they ride.
